Letters To The Earth

What would you write to the Earth? A pop-up exhibition exploring the power of writing and the impact of climate change on all of us.

Children from our local after school clubs have written letters to our planet, it’s creatures and inhabitants. Discover their creative responses to the climate and ecological crisis. From appeals to people in power to take action, to love letters, to favourite animals, to their hopes for the future of the planet, the children’s letters invite us to have deeper relationships with each other and the Earth. These were then displayed as part of Brighton’s Third Thursdays March event in WiDEYE and Simon Webster Hair in Brighton.

Letters to the Earth is a collaboration with Culture Declares Emergency. Brighton and Hove children joined thousands of voices across the planet including indigenous activists in the Amazon and Philippines and campaigners including Yoko Ono, Kae Tempest and Mark Rylance. Members of the public were invited to write their own letters on the evening to join the campaign too.
