Who are we?
In this policy, "we", "our" and "LGP" means the Little Green Pig.
LGP is a charity. We enable children and young people across Sussex to experiment with writing in all its forms and to share their work with a wide audience. Our priority is to work with young people who live or go to school in areas of deprivation, or who face challenging circumstances. From anthologies, tour guides, comics, soap operas, to films, our projects challenge perceptions of what writing can be and deliver tangible outcomes including improved confidence, literacy and communication skills. You can find out more about us and our mission here. To do this effectively, we have to use personal information about those we help, those who support us as volunteers, fundraisers and sponsors, and those we look to work with to best deliver and promote our work.
3. This website collects and uses personal information for the following reasons:
3.1 No site visit tracking
We don’t use Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction on our website. We decided not to use Google Analytics in the context of the introduction of the Children’s Code: in particular, we decided that our priority is to encourage access to and use of our website for the purpose of encouraging and facilitating learning. We do not need to collect data from our website users, whether they are adults or children.
We do not therefore collect data to determine the number of people using our site, to track their journey through the website, or record users’ geographical location, device, internet browser, operating system or IP address.
3.2 Forms and email links
Should you choose to contact us using our contact form or an email link we provide, none of the personal information you supply will be stored by our website. Instead the data is collated into an email and sent to us over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Our SMTP servers are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL) meaning that the email content is encrypted using SHA-2, 256-bit cryptography before being sent across the internet. The email content is then decrypted by our local computers and devices so we can use it to respond to you or otherwise manage your email.
We only share the personal information as set out in section 4 below.
3.3 Email newsletter
If you choose to join our newsletter mailing list (which is sent via email), the email address that you submit to us will be stored in Mailchimp -the platform we use for our email marketing. We consider Mailchimp to be a third-party data processor (see section 4 below).
Your email address will remain within the Mailchimp database for as long as we continue to use this platform for email marketing or until you ask us to remove you from our mailing list using the unsubscribe links contained in any newsletter we send you or by requesting removal via email to nicky@littlegreenpig.org.uk. When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.
