WEEK SEVEN: 3 JUNE-7 JUNE
This week, all children will get the opportunity to meet two more guests - this time on Thursday 6 June.
Naomi and Arlo will come to visit, as invited by the teachers, to help the school protest and fight against the chopping down of the playground tree. Naomi and Arlo are TREE WARRIORS, who have successfully helped save lots of trees before.
They’ll be based outside in the playground for some whole class outdoor learning (weather dependent), where each class will have 20-30 mins to spend with the visitors interacting with them and getting inspiration/sharing what they’ve already written to help save the trees OR telling these visitors about why trees are important etc.
This will be the week to post (or email scans of) the letters / writing /other ideas that the children have done to MOUTH Agency to protest the cutting down of the tree.
Naomi and Arlo will share photos they’ve taken of trees and nature, plus perform and share some tree and nature poetry and demonstrate the power of spoken word and poems, to help inspire the children in these activities.
Across this week, the children will notice that both miniature inkling-sized and human sized protest signs have popped up around the tree, campaigning for it to be saved. Children can create and add their own banners and signs to this, to help save the tree and protest with images and words against it getting cut down.
