WEEK 5: 13 May- 17 May
THE POWER OF TREES & A THREAT TO THE TREES
This week is an opportunity for all years to carry on activities that they may be continuing/finishing from previous weeks 3 and 4 (using the mini museum, outdoor engagement with the inklings tree, writing things to post in the bug hotel, exploring Wren Stone’s box of clues if didn’t get to start of finish this in Week 4).
BUT ALSO THIS WEEK…as the story develops..TWO KEY THINGS BELOW!
PART ONE: THE POWER OF TREES
Hopefully the children can now start to really develop and do some creative and factual writing around the inspiration from the Inklings, the clues, the Wren Stone box, the Mini Museum or the inspiration of nature.
Aim of Part One of this week: To inspire a sense of awe and wonder and connection to how incredible trees can be. As both a home for Inklings but also as a home for all sorts of other creatures small and large, and as their part in the wider ecosystem, what they can do for humans - both practical and very scientifically real, as well as emotional and more creative connections we have to them. It’s a week to celebrate and explore trees in different ways! This could link into other areas of the curriculum STEM topics too, as well as stories/poems/myths about trees and exploring children’s personal connections to trees.

Aim of Part Two this week: to provide motivation to write and learn about the power of words, whether spoken or written, to make change/persuade/evoke emotions/express thoughts
