Young people needed for Amplified, Brighton Festival 2019

Are you a young person with a personal story to share with the world? We’re looking for 12 special young people aged between 13 and 18 to take part in AMPLIFIED, our new project for Brighton Festival 2019.

Perhaps you are a young carer, a young parent, someone who is new to the U.K and Brighton, or someone who has overcome other challenges. Maybe you’re a budding athlete, photographer, writer or just have ideas about what you want to change about the world. You don’t need to have it all figured out yet, but we are looking for young people with enthusiasm, the ability to have a go and work towards sharing their story in public.

You’ll work together in a group of young people with a professional writer, coach and visiting artists who will help you find your story, write it and practise it so you are ready to present it on stage to a public audience on Saturday 18 May with a guest MC.

Dates and commitment

Tuesday 23rd April 4.30 – 6pm at The Barge in Brighton Marina: an initial meeting of the group, getting to know each other and discovering the story you’d like to tell, plus pizza!

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May, 11am – 4pm at Propellernet offices, Castle Square: over the weekend you’ll work with our mentors, writers and volunteers to craft your story and presentation and practise it until you are 100% confident. Location:

Thursday 9th May 9 – 10.30 at Hove Park School: A few members of the group will have a Q&A session with students from a secondary school as part of Brighton Festival’s ‘Our Place’.

Tuesday 14th May, half hour slots from 4 – 7pm: you’ll be filmed making your presentation to form a high quality film that will be shared with schools.

Saturday 18th May 5 – 8 pm at Brighthelm Centre: AMPLIFIED festival event!  Main event is 6-7.30 pm and then we will go out for a post-show dinner to celebrate your amazing achievement!
