Next in our continuing Meet the Team series, give a warm hello to Sophie Yarker! Sophie is a San Francisco-native who is volunteering in the Little Green Pig office while she’s in Brighton.
What do you do at Little Green Pig?
I help out with things that need to be done around the office, like running errands and writing up documents. Now I’m moving towards working with Little Green Pig’s social media accounts to help create a more efficient platform.
What has been your favourite moment so far?
Probably the Christmas event at Bird Studios. Hearing the work that the kids have done with Little Green Pig really cemented why I want to be volunteering with them. Plus, I got to wear reindeer antlers!
What do you hope to get from LGP?
I love writing, and I know that it can be difficult to have a safe space to write, especially when you’re a kid who’s still in school. Writing is such a special thing and I want the kids to be able to experience it comfortably.
And finally… what’s your favourite book?
It’s a toss-up between four books: Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, The Mixed-Up Files Of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg, Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg, and The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers.
