We hope you’re managing to stay warm and cosy, embrace seasonal hygge and make your homes as twinkly and celebratory as possible. We know that many of you face tough decisions about spending time with loved ones over the festive season so it feels timely and appropriate to thank you all for being part of our extended Little Green Pig family. Thank you…and in no particular order(!)…to our trustees, to our patrons, to our volunteers, to all our families, to the teaching staff we work alongside, to our funders, our cultural partners and our advocates. You are all amazing and without your support, we couldn’t hope to do all that we do, inspiring our fantastic children and young people to live their best lives. You’ll be in our hearts and minds and we look forward to gathering together again in brighter times and warmer months. For now, we’re happy to be partying digitally…
In lieu of a card, please enjoy our season’s greeting poem which comes from Harrison, aged 10, who attends our Tuesday club. Superb meter and rhyme, funny AND responsible, he’s pulled off the perfect literary curtain call for 2020!
Another shout out to lovers of literature and creative writing and those with a passion for mentoring children and young people in the Eastbourne and Worthing areas. We will be resuming our After School Clubs with children from Bourne Primary in Eastbourne and The Laurels Primary in Worthing in the new year and we’re really keen to gather a team of volunteers who can support the children with LGP’s model of in-depth engagement that teases out personal and creative confidence. It’s a call out to people of all ages and backgrounds, we don’t look for educational qualifications and we are far from prescriptive! We look for people with a passion for the written word and a commitment to nurturing young minds. If you or anybody you know might be interested, please encourage them to contact Ricardo, Little Green Pig’s Project Co-ordinator and Volunteer Manager. Our After School Clubs have been running on digital platforms lately so online methodology and safeguarding training is provided along with DBS checks. [email protected]
And a last appeal to those of you who might have missed out on your Christmas party to consider donating the company drinks budget or even the fiver you’d earmarked for Steve’s Secret Santa to Little Green Pig’s resilience fund. If your Christmas jumper is languishing at the back of the cupboard feeling unloved and overlooked this year, it’s the perfect excuse to pull it out and have a virtual toast with us. Be our #XmasPartyHeroes!!!
From the Little Green Pig team, we wish you all a peaceful, healthy and happy festive season and the very best for the New Year.
