What is Little Green Pig?
Little Green Pig Writing Project gets children and young people writing. If you are aged between 7 and 18 and want to have fun with words, write your own stories, poems, plays and much more then we are for you. We are based in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex.

Little Green Pig runs weekly and monthly workshops in Brighton & Hove, as well as workshops and events in schools, galleries, libraries and other venues. We publish children and young people’s work and put on fantastic open mic nights. We pride ourselves on being ‘a little bit different and a little bit peculiar’, just like the original little green pig. If you would like us to run a project or event for you, please contact us.

Workshop Leaders Wanted
We are looking for one or more writers to cover three different projects with our Piglets group (7 - 11 year olds) between March and July 2010. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 23rd February. For full details and information on how to apply, please visit our blog.

Saturday workshops at Hove Methodist Church 
We are now running workshops for Piglets (7-11 years) on the first Saturday of each month at Hove Methodist Church, Portland Road, 10-11.15 am. Sessions cost £3 on the door.

2010 dates: Saturday 6th March, 10th April, 1st May, 5th June, 3rd July, 7th August. Contact us for more information and directions.

Tuesday workshops at Brighton Youth Centre
Little Green Pig runs a weekly writing club at Brighton Youth Centre on Tuesday afternoons during term time, split into two sessions:
Piglets (7 – 11 years): 4 - 5pm
Saddlebacks (12 +): 5.15 - 6.15pm

Sessions cost £3.00 on the door or £2.50 when booked termly in advance – contact us for more information and how to get there.

Term dates 2010:
1. Tuesday 12th January - Tuesday 30th March. No sessions on Tuesday 16th February.
2. Tuesday 20th April - Tuesday 13th July. No sessions on Tuesday 1st June.

What do we do at a Little Green Pig workshop?
There is a different writing topic each week – from short stories, to drama, to poems and much more. We start off with some group games and activities and get stuck into doing our own writing. Don’t worry if you think can’t spell or think of ideas– we’re there to help you at every step. At the end of each session we share our work with the group and give feedback. It’s nothing like school and you have a big part to play in deciding what we do in the sessions. We are a friendly bunch and we welcome new faces and new writing – whatever your level.
